Creating a Material Component and Adding Variants

Material Components:
A component is any material needed to create your product. It could be a fabric, an outsole, a zipper, a shoe lace, a label, a UPC sticker, a mailer, a box.

How to create components:

Click create component

Choose the library you would like your component to live in, upload a reference image, give the component a name and description, and finally fill out the custom fields you create for your component.

Variants
A variant can be added to a component. An example of a variant would be the colorways available for a given fabric or the different sizes available for a mailer envelope. When creating your bill of materials, you will be able to assign different variants to your products.

How to create variants

  1. When creating a component, click on the + Add Variant button at the bottom of the components page:

  2. Add variant name, Pantone number if applicable, and image.
    Note that it is not necessary to add a Pantone number, you can add any additional information pertaining to your variant.

  3. Click add variant. When successfully added, your variants will show up like this:
